A griot (grE-O) is a storyteller and historian, able to capture and convey the essence of the story being told. Griots are chosen by the community to be advisors and keepers of tradition; their purpose is very significant, as they document – in various forms – the diverse cultures, traditions, and legacies of the community.

The Phoenix Griots are The Phoenix Rising Collective’s Advisory Board and have been selected as a standing, effective, and well-functioning team that takes on specific responsibilities on behalf of the organization.

The Phoenix Griots assist The PRC in building a platform for positive social, educational, and economic engagement that supports and advocates for women and girls.

The PRC continues to grow, we will ensure that the vision and mission remain at the forefront, and with the advice and expertise of our Advisory Board the commitment to provide quality self-esteem education that inspires and empowers personal growth and change in the lives of women and girls will strengthen. Each member of the Phoenix Griots selects and contributes their expertise to the current and future work of two areas of focus and actively provides professional recommendations and informed input on The PRC’s services.
